Yes, Senator Ted Cruz won the Iowa Caucuses, but the real big winner of the night was Senator Marco Rubio.
Without a doubt, Rubio’s debate performance in Des Moines helped him surge from a distant third place behind Cruz and Donald Trump, to a strong finish that saw him almost eclipse Trump for second place.All three men go into New Hampshire with significant momentum, but Rubio could have the edge over Cruz and Trump, as establishment Republicans and “moderates” continue steadily moving away from the likes of Kasich, Bush and Christie, and move towards Rubio.
Here is CNN’s final tally of last night’s Iowa Caucus. Note that even though Cruz set a record for receiving the most votes, he only received 8 delegates, as Trump and Rubio, who came in second and third place, both received 7 delegates.
