The famous Kalashnikov AK-47 assault rifles have been made in Moscow for 69 years but soon they will be made in Florida.
Kalashnikov USA has been approved by the city of Pompano Beach assemble the guns there.They had to move the manufacturing to Florida due to sanctions President Obama imposed against Russia after its annexation of Crimea in 2014. It was at that time Kalashnikov USA severed all ties with the Russian company.
Initially they started making the guns in Pennsylvania where they are headquartered but have decided to start making them in Florida instead.

Kalashnikov USA has re-branded itself as the American manufacturer of Kalashnikov brand guns. They have also launched new lines of rifles and shotguns last week at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas.
Their new guns include a new Alpha line of rifles with high capacity magazines holding 30 rounds.
The licenses obtained by Pompano Beach do not allow the company to sell guns or make ammunition so they will be selling to retailers elsewhere.Kalashnikov is one of the most popular assault rifles in the world, because of their durability and their reliability. In the current Afghan war, U.S. Marines captured a Kalashnikov from the Taliban that had been in use since it was produced in the Soviet Union in 1954.
