Ottumwa, Iowa– Republican presidential candidate and Senator, Ted Cruz, held a town hall meeting with Iowans, where he outlined his path to victory and what he would do on Day 1, were he to become president later this year.
Rep. Steve King (R-IA) and former Texas Governor Rick Perry warmed up the crowd of 250+ for Cruz, who threw out the usual conservative red meat anti-Obama talking points, as well as take a shot at Donald Trump for taking to Twitter to attack Bob Vanderplaats, a Cruz endorsee. After meeting with just about every attendee,, we caught up with Senator Cruz and asked him if he thought Senator Marco Rubio lacked credibility on immigration because of his several change of positions on the issue.
Cruz pointed at what radio show host Rush Limbaugh said about the difference between himself and Rubio.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Quoting Rush Limbaugh and adding his two cents worth:
When we pressed him about Rubio’s possible lack of credibility on immigration reform, Cruz said that he believed Rubio was credible when it came to immigration. It’s real simple. Marco Rubio was for amnesty, Ted was against it. Marco Rubio led the “Gang of 8,” Ted led the opposition to the “Gang of 8,” led the fight to secure the borders to keep this country safe, and even today, Marco Rubio supports amnesty, he supports citizenship, he supports legalization of 12 million people here illegally, and I oppose amnesty, I oppose citizenship, I oppose legalization.
No, actually I think he is very credible. He is the most credible advocate for amnesty because that has been his position. –Sen. Ted Cruz
Big ouch.
