With the 2016 Republican presidential primary race sucking all of the political oxygen out of the room, Florida’s U.S. Senate race to replace Senator Marco Rubio is struggling to get garner much attention from both the press, and from would-be voters.
The field of candidates-Rep. Ron DeSantis, Rep. David Jolly, Businessman Todd Wilcox, and Lt. Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera- have yet to break into polling double digits as far as statewide name recognition goes.Tea Party favorite Dan Bongino is considering a run for this same seat. Bongino interest in the race was first announced right here.
Jolly leads the field with 9 percentage points, but only bests DeSantis by two percent, according to the latest St. Leo University poll.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
While both Jolly and DeSantis have been able to garner endorsements from some of their fellow members of the U.S. House of Representatives, DeSantis has scored the support from Tea Party favorite, conservative U.S. Senator Mike Lee (R-UT).
Lee, who is considered by many to be one of the brightest rising Republican stars in U.S. politics, believes that DeSantis is the ” gold standard for constitutional conservatism in Florida and is the clear conservative choice for the U.S. Senate.”
Getting a Lee endorsement is a prize many Republican elected officials and candidates covet, as Lee’s name is synonymous with “constitutional conservatism.”Maybe Senator Lee will teach DeSantis some Espanol?
Lee, who lived in Latin American for several years, is fluent in Spanish.
