In Florida there is no law to stop drivers from texting while driving if they are following the other traffic laws. Republican lawmakers want to change that.
A bill has been filed in both the House and the Senate but it has not been scheduled yet for a hearing.Currently there are only five states who still have texting while driving as a secondary offense.
Representative Keith Perry said he texts while driving and almost did not take the bill. He told News4Jax:
