During the debate Jeb Bush criticized Senator Marco Rubio for his poor attendance in the Senate. Bush said:The Senate, what is it like a French work week? You get, like, three days where you have to show up?
According to CNN the French are not happy about those comments.

French newspaper The Local said Americans have “stoop[ed] to French bashing, again.
They also said:
The reality is most French people work more than 35 hours each week, but the cliche has stubbornly remained on the other side of the Atlantic.
Another paper, Liberation, also criticized Bush. They said full-time workers in France work an average of 40.7 hours per week.
Bush’s campaign brushed off the complaints and said they were not concerned with what they had to say.
Bush’s communications director Tim Miller said:
That type of attitude is not going to help him. Apologizing is a better option. Not too concerned about attacks from the French media. Jeb’s working far more than 40 hours a week.
