Jeb Bush was in Houston this past weekend with friend, family, and donors, hoping to be able to regroup from the downward spiral his presidential campaign seems to currently be on.
Bush’s main obstacle in the 2016 GOP presidential primary is Florida Senator Marco Rubio, who is quickly becoming the Republican establishment’s new choice for president, and has begun to pick off key Bush donors and many supporters across Florida, and the country.Because Rubio is the threat, and not Trump, Team Bush focused on Rubio during the weekend campaign retreat.
Team Bush broke out a 45-panel slideshow outlining and ins and outs of the campaign thus far, including a snapshot of how Rubio was being viewed
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
One slide stated, “Marco hasn’t received a single endorsement from a fellow U.S. Senator,” the text on screen read. “Governor Bush has been endorsed by three, as well as 20 House members.”
“The following slide” likened Rubio to, wait for it…. President Barack Obama.
The following slide called Rubio “a GOP Obama” and noted their “strikingly similar profiles: first-term senators, lawyers and university lecturers, served in part-time state legislatures for eight years, had few legislative accomplishments, and haven’t shown much interest in the process of advancing legislation and getting results.”
This is all fair game, even if Rubio supporters don’t like it. Remember, Rubio first jabbed at Bush by referring to him as a candidate from “yesterday.”
This is the ugly side of politics, where family and friends turn on each other just to win.
