Two of the three Republican U.S. Senators running for president in 2016-Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz- continue to surge in the latest national polls, while the third, Rand Paul, continues to flounder, leaving many onlookers to believe that he could drop out of the race before the Iowa caucuses.
Rand Paul isn’t doing as well as he would hoped, or as many believed he would, but Senators Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz are just peachy about how their respective presidential campaigns continue to garner support across the country.Let’s face it. Rand Paul is dead on arrival.
Cruz has recently surged to third in the latest Fox News polls, while Rubio has done the same in the latest WSJ/NBC national poll.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Could we see a Cruz/Rubio match-up in early 2016?
Probably not.
Remember, Trump is polling in the mid 20’s in every single poll, as is Ben Carson, who is sitting firmly in the #2 spot of these polls. Both Cruz and Rubio are currently being trounced by Carson and Trump, but as the campaign moves along, many of those Trump and Carson supporters who have Rubio, but mainly Cruz as their second choice, could begin to make a move to either candidate.
Jeb Bush’s fall from political grace has benefitted Rubio, and not Cruz.
But the more conservative “purist” voters that are backing Trump and Carson would jump on board the “Cruz ship” in the event that either one of their first choice of candidates began to slip in popularity.
Trump’s weakness is his propensity to punch his primary opponents in the nose via Twitter, or on the stump, while Carson’s soft-spoken and very calm demeanor leaves many Republicans wanting someone like Trump, who is not afraid to take off the gloves and throw some hard punches.
Both Rubio and Cruz have proven that they can speak substantively on all the issues, and are willing to openly jab at an opponent and the Democratic field of presidential candidates, as well as take a punch or two.So, between Rubio and Cruz, who would you support in the 2016 GOP presidential primary?
