On Monday, Americans for Prosperity-Florida (AFP-FL) launched a statewide “Thank You” effort to the Florida lawmakers who opposed Medicaid expansion during the 2015 legislative session.
The ad will run for 2 weeks and will feature TV, digital and mail in an effort to educate Floridians about the 72 legislatures who stood up for taxpayers and patients against special interests who pushed to bring Obama’s Medicaid expansion to the Sunshine State.State director, Chris Hudson said:
Families, patients, and taxpayers should thank and congratulate the 72 members of the legislature for being their champion on this critically important issue. We are committed to holding elected officials accountable to their constituents. In this case, these members deserve to hear from their communities for standing strong against the usual pressures of powerful lobbyists and special interests.

The ads are broken up into five different areas: Miami, Central Florida, North Florida, Southwest Florida and Tampa Bay. Each ad showcases the photo’s and names of the lawmakers in that area who voted against Medicaid expansion.
In addition to the Medicaid ad, AFP-FL also came out on Monday and commented about the recent news of Enterprise Florida and Space Florida announcing excessive bonuses for top executives. Hudson said:
Taxpayers’ money should never be used to give lucrative bonuses to quasi-government entities like Enterprise Florida and Space Florida. Our legislatures should be ashamed of news that hard-working families and small business owners are subsidizing bonuses upwards of 50% of some executives’ base salaries.
Hudson also said:
Considering the less-than-stellar track record of organizations like Enterprise Florida, who continually fall short delivering on their promises, these groups should not be gaming the system to enrich their lives on the backs of taxpayers.
