Even as early as when she announced her candidacy for Congress, Democrat Annette Taddeo’s fundraising prowess has been question by a growing number of Democrats within the “boogie down” better known as Miami, Florida.
Because Taddeo fell short in fundraising against incumbent Republican Congressman Carlos Curbelo (pictured) this past reporting cycle, the already existing narrative that “Annette can’t raise money” has been fueled. The congressional candidate herself didn’t do herself any favors when her campaign sent out a desperate-sounding fundraising email stating,” We’re in real danger of falling short of our July budget goal coming up in just 5 days.”
Democratic Party and former Obama money-bags, Freddy Balsero, currently a Hillary Clinton supporter, believes that because Taddeo’s fundraising has underperformed, the DCCC may not list her campaign in their “Red-to-Blue” program targeting Republican incumbents they deem vulnerable.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Oh, and by the way, there is a big tiff going on between Taddeo and Balsero, as well as with other Miami Democrats over Balsero’s recent endorsement of his amigo, Curbelo (R).
Both Taddeo and Balsero obviously support lifting the embargo. Taddeo is dancing the “Charlie Shuffle” as her position against doing business with communist Cuba has evolved since her miscommunication with 2014 Democratic Gubernatorial nominee Charlie Crist about doing business with Cuba.
Crist, who picked Taddeo as his running mate against Gov. Rick Scott in 2014, said that he favored lifting the embargo, adding that the U.S. should begin to do business with Cuba.Taddeo, who at the time wasn’t in sync with Crist on the issue, said that the U.S. should not to business with Cuba.
Back to Balsero.
That’s right. A Democratic Party operative and fundraiser has ventured over to the Republican Party “Dark Side” to support his old Arroz con Pollo-eating friend Carlitos.
While the Clinton campaign hasn’t said much about Balsero’s support for Curbelo, or the ongoing drama that Taddeo may have inserted herself into, Clinton may have taken an indirect shot at Taddeo during her much anticipated speech last week in Miami, where she asked for the Cuban embargo to be lifted.
As soon as Clinton hit the stage, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee gushed over former Representative Joe Garcia (D), thanking her “long-time friend” for attending her event, as she failed to acknowledge Taddeo candidacy or even her presence.Prior to Clinton’s speech, Taddeo could be seen walking through the auditorium doing what all politicians do when they are running for office, and that is kiss babies, and shake hands.
Garcia was at the VIP reception on the second floor of the building, and later walked down into the seating area with the rest of the VIP’s, including Balsero.
There is much speculation in the Miami banana republican that Garcia is mulling over a 4th run for Congress, and because Taddeo hasn’t been able to raise the campaign cash needed to counter Curbelo in this highly competitive congressional seat, Garcia is strongly leaning towards running to win back the seat he lost last November.
The POLITICO caught up to Garcia and asked him about a possible run for congress.
Asked about running again for his old Miami-Key West congressional seat, Garcia didn’t tamp down speculation: “I’m not running for anything right now.”So that’s not a no?
That’s absolutely right. But it doesn’t mean I’m running either. Right now, I’m walking out of Publix with some fried chicken. That’s what I’m doing right now,” Garcia responded. He pointed out that the 26th Congressional District will have to be redrawn due to a Florida Supreme Court ruling last month that found the Legislature unconstitutionally gerrymandered. The district is already Democratic leaning, and could be more so after the redrawing later this month during a special legislative session.
Right now, Curbelo and his entire campaign staff is quietly bent over in amusement just thinking about a possible liberal Democratic Party “lucha libre” primary race between Garcia and Taddeo.
