The New York Times has informed HarperCollins they will not be including Ted Cruz’s new book A Time For Truth in their upcoming bestsellers list as reported by POLITICO.
This announcement comes even though Cruz’s book has sold more copies then only two other books on their list.During it’s first week the 11,854 copies were sold. That is more than 18 out of 20 other titles that will appear on the list.
This week the Cruz’s publisher sent a letter to The New York Times inquiring why the book was omitted from the list. The Times said the book did not meet the requirements for inclusion.

Times spokesperson Eileen Murphy said:
When asked to specify the standards, Murphy replied:We have uniform standards that we apply to our best seller list, which includes an analysis of book sales that goes beyond simply the number of books sold. This book didn’t meet that standard this week.
Our goal is that the list reflects authentic best sellers, so we look at and analyze not just numbers, but patterns of sales for every book.
Since the book was published Cruz has been touring the country holding book signings. Many of the signings have been at book stores which report to the Times’ list.
