In the recent Gravis Marketing “random telephone survey” of 881 “highly likely” Democrats voters in Florida, the results show that the U.S. Senate race to replace outgoing Florida Senator Marco Rubio is virtually up for grabs.
Rep. Alan Grayson (D), the outspoken and controversial liberal Democrat from Orlando crushes his fellow Democrat Rep. Patrick Murphy by a whopping margin of 63-19 percentage points, with 18 percent of those polled saying they were “undecided.”Here was the question Gravis posed to Democrats:
If the Democratic primary election for Senate were held today and the candidates were, Alan Grayson and Patrick Murphy, whom would you vote for?
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
The survey was dominated by 63 percent women, with primarily “white” voters being dialed. Interestingly enough, 42 percentage of those polled were between the ages of 18-49, which means that Grayson has a much larger appeal to younger Democrats than Murphy.
This is not good for Murphy, who has been painted by the Democratic Party as being a younger, more appealing candidate whose views would transcend across all age groups.
As far as the Republicans vying to win their party’s senate nomination, the field of candidates is lead by former Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum.McCollum is only in the lead because of his statewide name identification. Why shouldn’t McCollum poll higher than the rest of the field?
After all, McCollum has run a statewide campaign on three other losing occasions?
Most Republican politicos will tell you that McCollum is a nonfactor in this race, simply because it is only a matter of time before the other younger candidates like Rep, Ron DeSantis, who polled at 16 percent, and soon-to-be-announced senate candidate, Lt. Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera, who polled at 7%, begin to make a dent into the 47 percent of undecided likely voters.
Rep.Jeff Miller, who polled at 6 percent, is also expected to run.
Again, the big story here is Grayson’s shellacking of Murphy. The Democrat Party has been trying to keep Grayson from running against Murphy, but they have failed. Grayson is expected to announce his Senate run.If Grayson runs for the Senate (he will) it will splinter the Democrat Party base of support, as hardliners, or left-wing liberal activists favor a Grayson candidacy, while the Democratic Party establishment has already entrenched themselves with Murphy.
Meanwhile, Grayson was just slapped with a second ethics complaint from a fellow Democrat for his two Cayman Island-base hedge funds and one Delaware-based fund, which all bare his name.
The complaint was filed by Celeste Bush of St. Lucie Country, who just happens to be a Patrick Murphy for Senate supporter.
Oh boy, this race is going to get really ugly, really fast.
