The Republican primary race in Florida’s 18th congressional district is heating up, literally.
St. Lucie County Commissioner Tod Mowery, who announced his candidacy for congress last month, held an outdoors campaign kick-off in Palm City, Florida, where just over 140 friends, family, and campaign supporters of all ages, braved the scorching Florida heat to came out to hear Commissioner Mowery speak about why he feels he is the best choice in the entire Republican field of candidates. The actual event was held under a tiki hut on the grounds of the Florida Exotics landscaping company, so there was some relief from the heat.
The layout of this site was pretty impressive, to say the least.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Mowery, who even had a campaign drone hovering over the event, addressed the crowd from a shaded deck adjacent to the tiki hut, and couldn’t resist mentioning that there were others living outside of the district that were either running, or looking to run against him because the seat is perceived as winnable for a Republican.
Several of Mowery’s primary challengers, or soon-to-be-challengers, live outside of CD 18.
Rick Kozell hails from Washington, D.C., Noelle Nikpour lives in Little Rock, Arkansas, Paul Spain is in Delray Beach, and Brian Mast, the combat veteran who lost both of his legs in an IED explosion in Afghanistan, lives in Parkland, Florida, but recently purchased a home on Hutchinson Island.Mowery’s message was your typical safe campaign stump speech.
He focused on the need to preserve the quality of the environment in the district, as well as touching on the “dramatic” future changes in the U.S. economy he believes will occur in the near future. Mowery also stressed the concern of many that the U.S. may someday no longer proudly support the military.

We caught up with Mowery shortly after he finished his speech.
