Just when you thought that Senator Marco Rubio’s immigration reform woes were behind him, his final and deciding vote to move forward President Obama’s Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) or “Obamatrade,” could pose to be a big obstacle to his 2016 presidential campaign.
To be clear, Rubio did not vote for TPP, and will have the opportunity to vote against it when it comes down to a final vote. There is still hope for him. Here is what his office put out regarding Rubio’s vote:
Trade Promotion Authority is a key component to advancing U.S. international trade goals, opening new markets to American goods and services, and ensuring continued American leadership in Asia and Europe. Renewing TPA will allow the U.S. to compete in the global marketplace, thus helping to grow our economy and create new opportunities for American workers and businesses.-National Review
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Simply put, TPP is an international agreement that the White House itself calls a “rules for the world’s economy,” that regulates every trade issue you can imagine, including energy, environment stuff, and yes, immigration.
While proponents of TPP will make the case that this agreement would be immensely beneficial to the U.S., the reality is that TPP will allow U.S. trade law to be dictated by foreign countries.
Can anyone say “One World Alliance?”TPP would put the U.S. on an even keel with other countries like Brunei, whose Sultan, Hassanal Bolkiah, just implemented Sharia Law in his country.
For those of you who have been living under a rock for the past decade or so, Sharia law is a what radical Islamist groups like ISIS and Al Qaeda prescribe to, and practice on a daily basis.
You have all witnessed the brutality that ISIS has inflicted on those who are not Muslim, or to fellow Muslims who do not subscribe to Sharia law.
ISIS is Sharia law.
Here is the Huffington Post’s take on TPP and how it benefits Brunei:But for the U.S., a far more abhorrent connection with the sultan than a few hotels is the trade pact with Brunei (and other Pacific nations), the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), which President Obama has been doggedly pursuing since 2009. As noted by Curtis Ellis of the American Jobs Alliance, “on the very day Brunei was phasing in Sharia law, Obama’s chief trade negotiator Michael Froman was on Capitol Hill selling the TransPacific Partnership, which would bind the U.S. to Brunei and give the Islamic Sultanate special economic privileges.”
Senators Rand Paul and Ted Cruz didn’t see it this way, as both 2016 presidential candidates voted against allowing for a future vote on TPP.
Here is what The Hill wrote about the TPP and TPA back in April 2015:
If approved, the Trans-Pacific Partnership would have the force of a treaty. Its regulations would override U.S. law. With fast-track trade promotion authority (TPA), only a simple majority in both houses of Congress, not a two-thirds supermajority in the Senate, would be needed for approval. Congress could not change any of the rules in it, and the White House would not be obligated to follow any directives Congress offers on
The Trans-Pacific Partnership includes an entire chapter on immigration. It is a Trojan horse for Obama’s immigration agenda.House members who were ready to defund the Department of Homeland Security to stop President Obama’s executive action on immigration must not give him TPA, which he will use to ensure his immigration actions are locked in when he leaves office.
The U.S. Trade Representative says “temporary entry” guest worker visas are a “key feature” of the Trans-Pacific Partnership. “Temporary entry” reminds one of Milton Friedman’s famous dictum: “Nothing is as permanent as a temporary government program.”
That’s right. TPP will help push Obama’s immigration agenda through the back door, and will bring back the immigration reform discussion that has hurt Rubio since his 2013 co-sponsoring of the controversial, Obama-supported “Gang of 8” Senate immigration reform bill.
This agreement is bad for America. Look at it this way. When you have arguably the most liberal member of the U.S. Congress, Rep. Alan Grayson (D), opposing Obamatrade, then you know this is a bad deal.
Considering that Rubio has taken a very hawkish stance against radical Islamic terrorism and Sharia law, I find it hard to believe that he will vote in favor of TPP, when it hits the Senate floor for a vote. There is still hope that Rubio will join his colleagues Cruz and Paul, and vote against this very un-American trade agreement.
