Chris Christie is getting ready to announce he is running for president soon. POLITICO hinted his announcement could come as early as next week.
Previously I heard from sources he was definitely running but that did not have a specific announcement date at that time.Coming from New Jersey and helping with his campaigns, I know a lot of his long time workers and associates. I can tell you he has a strong team behind him but he faces big hurdles. The latest Fairleigh Dickinson University poll in NJ had his approval rating at 30%, 65% of residents that are moving are leaving the state, businesses are moving out and more tax increases are on the way. To give Christie some credit, not all of those factors are his fault. New Jersey has a Democratic majority in the state house and they are very liberal. Union bosses also run the state through Democrats on many different levels. The question is: will voters know that? Probably not.
Christie’s spokeswoman, Samantha Smith, declined to comment about when he is announcing but it has been said in the past he is expected to launch his presidential campaign at the end of June after the New Jersey legislature finalizes the state budget.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
A few years ago Governor Christie was on the top of the world. His poll ratings were very high and he was well known across the United States. Currently, that is not the case. A few scandals have plummeted his ratings. The most well known was Bridgegate. He was accused of closing down lanes to the George Washington Bridge as political retaliation because a local mayor would not endorse him for his 2013 reelection. Even though he was cleared of any wrongdoing it is still playing out in the court and those being charged are trying to pull him into it.
Yet his aide’s insist there is still room for him in the race. They know Jeb Bush is struggling and not the rock star people said he would be. Because of Bush’s problems they said there is still hope for an establishment candidate to rise to the top.
Recently Governor Christie has been touring the United States and giving speeches. At an event hosted by Mitt Romney in Deer Valley, Utah he even took some shots at his long time nemesis, Rand Paul. Christie said:If you what to know how little [senators] know, watch what Rand Paul’s done the last two weeks. Because, I will tell you, he’s made America weaker and more vulnerable, and he’s done it for his own personal and political gain, and he’s done it to raise money.
