The care for military veterans is an issue that transcends across political party lines, and no other figure in the U.S. Senate has been more vocal about reigning in the Department of Veteran’s Affairs and providing premium healthcare for veterans, than Senator Marco Rubio.
In 2014, Rubio introduced his VA Management Accountability Act, a bill that was written in response to the unbelievable reports that veteran’s have been receiving subpar healthcare that have resulted in the preventable deaths of 31 servicemen and women.
During this past weekends Miami-Dade Republican Party Lincoln Day dinner, Senator Rubio gave the keynote address, but before he got into the nuts and bolts of his speech, Rubio took the time to award a certificate of recognition from his Senate office to a group of homeless veterans that were invited to attend the annual dinner.
“These men stood between tyranny and us, the are the reason why tonight, when your children go to bed, and you family goes to sleep, they are safe.”-Sen. Marco Rubio
According to Liliana Ros (pictured), the local GOP’s state committeewoman and organizer of the effort to acknowledge veterans, these veterans call Homestead Air Reserve base home, and were there courtesy of Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R), who sponsored their table.
Ros also pointed out that the clothing then men had on were donated by Republicans donors as well, and that the Miami GOP will continue this annual tradition of reaching out to veterans.
