On Thursday, Rick Perry launched what he hopes is his comeback campaign. In 2012 he previously ran for president but after a running start his campaign was halted and crushed because of a debate gaffe and stump speech mishaps.
He is ready to get in the game again. On Thursday he announced he is running for the Republican presidential nomination.During a rally in Addison, Texas Perry said:
I’m running for the presidency of the United States.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
He is focusing a lot on his military experience. Something the other presidential candidates do not have and Perry is hoping will set him apart from the rest of the pack.
Perry was also the governor of Texas. He set a job-creation record during that time and even though it was not shared in 2012, his advisers say it will be discussed in 2016.
He delivered a 20 minute speech on a hot Texas day and did not miss a beat even as the sweat poured down his face. Cheering him on in the audience were military veterans including several Navy SEALs, Taya Kyle who is the widow of “American Sniper” Chris Kyle and Marcus Luttrell.During his speech, Perry took a shot at other candidates such as Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio. He said:
The question of every candidate will be this: When have you led? Leadership is not a speech on the Senate floor. Is is not what you say. It is what you have done.
