Our Managing Editor, Javier Manjarres was on NewsMaxTV’s NewsMax Now Tuesday along with prior Florida State Senator Dave Aronberg. They discussed a variety of subjects including Elizabeth Warren’s response to President Obama in regards to his trade agreement, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s response to the fallen police officers in Mississippi and paid maternity leave.
First up was Elizabeth Warren. She criticized President Obama for not making the documents related to his new trade deal transparent and declassifying them for the public to see.Manjarres agreed and said he should declassify the documents for everyone to see so they could make up their mind if they agreed with it or not then simply guessing what was in the bill. He also said if unions were against the bill then he was for it but before supporting it 100% he needed to see the documents.
Next, they discussed Loretta Lynch’s following statement which was released in response to the two police officers being killed in Mississippi over the weekend:

Aronberg felt she made the right response because there are a lot of police officers out there who risk their lives to save people everyday.
Javier said he was happy to hear her support police officers whereas Eric Holder did not. He pointed out unlike Lynch, retired US Attorney General Holder seemingly attacked police officers which was demonstrated by his response to Ferguson. Then they shifted gears and got into the main discussion: maternity leave. Paid maternity leave is shaping up to be a hot discussion on the campaign trail. Currently in the United States only three states offer it. They are: New Jersey, California and Rhode Island. The hosts felt it was a good idea for the government to require all small businesses across the United States to offer paid maternity leave but Manjarres felt it was a bad idea.
As a small business owner Manjarres said businesses should be able to decide if they want to provide pregnant employees with paid leave.
He said:
Manjarres continued to say:Businesses should not be mandated to give paid maternity leave for women who choose to get pregnant.
Wouldn’t it more make sense if they slashed the corporate tax rate? It helps businesses and they could offer it themselves.
He further pointed out a lot of businesses do offer paid maternity leave. The difference is they are not required to.
Aronberg felt allowing an incentive package that provided paid maternity leave would be very good for businesses. It would show they are pro family and their employees would be happier because of it.
