Even though Representative Ron DeSantis (FL-R) recently announced he is running for Marco Rubio’s Florida Senate seat he is still hard at work.
As the Chairman of the Subcommittee on National Security as well as a Naval Reserve Officer who served in Iraq on Tuesday he announced he is offering several amendments to the Senate-passed Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act to be considered by the House.DeSantis released the following statement:
Congress needs to speak up on behalf of the American people about the dangers of the proposed framework with Iran. The framework envisions conceding billions to Iran in sanctions relief while also providing legitimacy to Iran’s vast nuclear infrastructure.

DeSantis is preparing to offer the following amendments:
– Require that the negotiating record be available for members of Congress in a classified/unclassified setting within a designated timeframe from announcement of an agreed upon deal
– Require that International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors be allowed at all Iranian military sites at any time– Any agreement with Iran requires Iran to pay reparations for all U.S. servicemen killed or harmed in Iraq due directly or indirectly to the involvement of any Iranian funded or supported groups
– To prohibit the provision of sanctions relief until the President has certified to Congress that the Government of Iran has fully and verifiability disclosed all of the possible military dimensions associated with the Iranian nuclear program
– To prohibit the provision of sanctions relief until the President has certified to Congress that the Government of Iran has permanently closed or rendered inoperable all of it hardened underground facilities associated with the Iranian nuclear program
Talking from personal experience DeSantis is very passionate about overseeing the Iran bill. He also said:
Iran provided deadly military grade explosives to militants in Iraq which were used against U.S. military men and women during Operation Iraqi Freedom, killing significant numbers of our troops. Yet Iran has never been held to account for its conduct. A deal which gives Iran billions without addressing the American blood Iran has on its hands does not do justice to the fallen.
The House is expected vote on the bill sometime this week.
