On Friday, Freddie Gray’s death was ruled a homicide and charges were brought against six officers who are thought to be involved. Three of the officers charged are black, including the driver of the van.
Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby announced at a Friday press conference that the driver of the van transporting Gray, Officer Caesar Goodson will be charged with second-degree murder. The charges against the other officers range from involuntary manslaughter to assault and false imprisonment according to The Hill.
Mosby informed the public that Gray suffered his fatal spinal injury in the back of the van where he was not buckled in. She also said officers repeatedly refused Gray’s requests for medical attention and when he arrived at the police station he was suffering from cardiac arrest.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
She said:
Mosby added Gray had asked for help after the injury and told officers he could not breathe. The officers did not take him to the hospital. Instead they picked up another prisoner.Mr. Gray suffered a severe and critical neck injury as a result of being handcuffed and shackled by his feet, unrestrained inside of the BPD [van].
She also said there was no probable cause to arrest Gray. She noted the knife they found on him was legal in the state.
Mosby told protestors “I heard your call for ‘No justice, no peace.'” She also said:
Your peace is severely needed as I work to deliver justice on behalf of Freddie Gray.

The Baltimore Fraternal Order of Police have called for Mosby to appoint a special prosecutor. They are claiming she has “many conflicts of interest” and have questioned her findings.
Mrs. Mosby’s husband, Nick Mosby is the Councilman who represents the West Baltimore neighborhood where Gray was arrested.
Also Mrs. Mosby has a close relationship with the Gray’s attorney, William H. “Billy” Murphy, Jr. He raised money for Mosby’s campaign, was a member of her transition team and personally contributed $5,000 to her campaign.
The Baltimore Fraternal Order of Police released their letter to Mrs. Mosby on Twitter:
Many people believe Mosby was too quick to charge the officers and she is in over her head. They say she has little experience prosecuting murder cases. Prior to being elected she focused on insurance cases. Others believe the charges are simply a political witch hunt meant to appease her husbands voters as well as her own.
We will eventually find out when these cases go to trial.
