Another Florida resident is expected to announce he is running for president. His name is Ben Carson. Dr. Carson is expected to launch his 2016 campaign next Monday in his hometown of Detroit.
On Monday he is scheduled to attend a pastor’s breakfast and then visit a high school that bears his name, Benjamin Carson High School of Science and Medicine. He is then expected to make his announcement at the Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Detroit at 10:30 am.Back in February he was asked if he wants to be president and he said:
My preference is a nice peaceful retirement. And that’s why I moved to this neighborhood on a nice golf course on the 17th hole. But honestly my whole life has been dedicated, my professional life, to the welfare of children. And when I look at their future, at the rate that we’re going there is no way I can sit back and relax.

According to the Palm Beach Post, Carson was a member of the Independence Party of Florida before changing his Palm Beach County registration to Republican in November.
Carson is also one of four Floridian Republicans expected to run for president in 2016. Senator Marco Rubio already announced, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush has all but announced and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee is now a resident of Santa Rosa Beach and expected to announce on May 5th.
