On Tuesday, Americans for Prosperity-Florida (AFP-FL) released a statement that they were proud of the House for ending session three days early without passing a budget.
They said:Americans for Prosperity-Florida (AFP-FL), the state’s leading grassroots advocacy organization, applauds the leadership of Speaker Crisafulli and the members of the Florida House for standing strong for Florida families and taxpayers this sessions.
AFP-FL also noted the House rejected Medicaid expansion, put an end to handouts to the film and sports industries, increased pension reform flexibility and expanded access to school choice.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Chris Hudson said, AFP-FL state director also commented:
It is expected Governor Scott will be forced to call back the legislature to pass the budget. The House stood strong and negotiated in good faith. Meanwhile the Senate continues to stall a tax cut package that would help Floridians. The Senate should follow the House’s leadership, pass the tax cut package, and go home!
According to Florida law Sections 216.165 and 216.221 the state is required to pass a balanced budget. The state is also forbidden from carrying over of a deficit from one year to the next.
Florida is known for having one of the most aggressive policies for maintaining a balanced budget in the country.
