The Democrats are at it again! Democrat Representative Rosa DeLauro (CT) new bill if passed would give gun owners tax breaks for voluntarily turning in high-power assault rifles. The bill is called the Support Assault Firearm Elimination and Education of our (SAFER) Streets Act. That’s a mouth full!
DeLauro said:Assault weapons are not about hunting, or even self-defense. There is no reason on earth, other than to kill as many people as possible in as short a time as possible, that anyone needs a gun designed for a battlefield.
Even though DeLauro is in favor of banning assault weapons and their ammunition all together I guess she realized that would never happen with a GOP majority and that is why she is trying to reach her objective other ways.

If passed, the legislation would give up to $2,000 in tax credit for gun owners who voluntarily hand in assault weapons to their local police.
This is not the first time this bill has seen the light of day. Back in 2013 DeLauro released a similar version but it was shot down by the Republican-controlled House and it is probably going to happen again.
