Florida lawmakers are growing increasingly weary of the availability of drones. They feel it is necessary to catch up with the latest technology and to protect Floridians from having their privacy jeopardized.
That is why they are trying to pass HB 649 – Surveillance by a Drone. The bill:prohibits person, state agency, or political subdivision from using drone to capture image of privately owned real property of owner, tenant, occupant, invitee, or licensee of such property with intent to conduct surveillance without written consent

So we’re trying to catch up with the technology, have the law catch up with technology.
The bill would limit the use of drones on privately owned property but does not apply to public places or places that are visible in the public eye.
