In an effort to counter efforts to nudge the state of Florida into buying 46,000 acres from U.S. Sugar for Everglades restoration by “radical environmentalists,” as they are called by the sugar farming supporters, the group Florida Citizens Against Waste is mounting a protest on April 2 at the South Florida Water Management District Headquarters in West Palm Beach.
The group has been circulating their “Stop the land grab” petition hoping to get as many Floridians to sign it, and signal to state officials that this slated land buy is not just unnecessary, but a outright bad idea.Grassroots activists have come on board with this efforts as Tea Party Miami, as well as the South Florida Tea Party, are both pushing this event.
