Mayoral incumbent Alvin Brown finished with 42.63% of the vote and republican challenger Lenny Curry finished with 38.42% of the vote which was very tight especially since Bill Bishop was the other Republican challenger and he ended with 16.76% of the vote. Those votes could potentially go to Lenny Curry in the run off election. In regards to Sheriff that margin was not as close. Democrat Ken Jefferson took 36.43% of the vote whereas republican challenger Mike Williams had 22.28%. Seeing that there were 5 republicans running for Sheriff and only two Democrats, if all the republicans back Williams in the run off he could easily win.
The run off election is scheduled for May 19th.
