Senator John McCain is convinced President Obama is letting his personal feelings get in the way of him making responsible decisions.

McCain was talking about the President’s feeling towards Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He continued to say:

The President has his priorities so screwed up that it’s unbelievable.
The President had told The Huffington Post just last week that he took the Prime Minister’s reelection comments about not having a Palestinian state on his watch to heart. He said that now it is:
going to be hard to find a path where people are seriously believing that negotiations are possible.
Borger asked McCain about Obama’s consideration of signing a U.N. resolution calling for a Palestinian state and McCain responded:
Of course he shouldn’t be considering it. And, second of all, if he does that, then — and it would be approved by the U.N., then the United States Congress would have to examine our funding for the United Nations. It would be a violation because of the President’s anger over a statement by Bibi, the prime minister of Israel. It would contradict American policy for the last at least 10 presidents of the United States.
McCain said Obama needed to get over his hurt feelings in order to work towards peace in the region.
As a little background on creating a Palestinian state. In 1947 the UN adopted a partition plan for a two-state solution. The plan was accepted by the Jewish leadership but it was rejected by the Arab leaders and Britain refused to implement the plan. When the British withdrew from the region the Jewish Agency for Israel established the State of Israel in accordance to the proposed UN plan whereas the Arab Higher Committee did not declare a state of their own. Instead they started a military action in an effort to try to claim the region. The least of your problems are what Bibi Netanyahu said in a political campaign. It pales in significance to the situation which continues to erode throughout the Middle East and it puts America at risk.
