Congressman Ron DeSantis (FL-R) sent out an email discussing the open letter to Iran which was drafted by Senator Cotton and signed by 46 other Senators last week.
Cotton’s letter addressed Iran and let them know any nuclear-arms deal should go through the Congress first for approval. If a deal was made between their country and Obama it can be revoked when the president leaves office. While addressing the letter DeSantis said:
Iran is a country governed by fanatical jihadists that cannot be permitted to acquire nuclear weapons. The deal brokered by the Obama administration legitimizes Iran’s desire to enrich massive amounts of uranium and contains a sunset provision that leaves Iran free and clear to pursue a nuclear breakout in 10 years.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
He also cautioned Iranians are behind a lot of unrest in the Middle East. He said:
Congressman DeSantis called the whole situation troubling. Further agreeing with the Senators he said:Iranian-backed Shiite militias directed by Suleimani are responsible for the deaths of hundreds of U.S. service members in Iraq. They share a similar ideological outlook with the Islamic State; as Shiites, they just have different doctrinal ideas about who should ultimately run the caliphate.
The goal for U.S. policy should be to defeat the Islamic State while also weakening the Iranian regime and undercutting the regime’s influence in the Middle East.
