Conservative Republicans are not happy Speaker of the House, John Boehner most likely made a deal with Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi over immigration reform and passing the clean DHS bill. They are are now thinking about trying to oust him but Democrats have vowed to protect the vulnerable Speaker.
Democrats say they would rather have Boehner remain at the top than have him replaced with a more conservative Speaker who will most likely not reach across the aisle to compromise with them. They say if a conservative was the Speaker nothing would get done.Per The Hill, Representative Bill Pascrell (NJ-D) said:
“I’d probably vote for Boehner [because] who the hell it going to replace him? [Ted] Yoho?”

He added:
Representative and self proclaimed liberal Raul Grijalva (AZ-D) agreed. He stated:In terms of the institution, I would rather have John Boehner as the Speaker than some of these characters who came here thinking that they’re going to change the world”
Then we would get Scalise or somebody? Geez, come on. We can be suicidal but not stupid.
Boehner has been in hot water with conservatives since he took the position in 2011. The movement against him has only increased this year and has led to talk of a new coup. If attempted it would be even harder to pull off then the election of a Speaker on the first day of business which obviously Boehner won this year even though 25 Republicans voted against him.
Some Democrats had contemplating ousting Boehner as well but have second thoughts. Representative Gerry Connolly (VA-D) said:
One thing is for sure, Speaker John Boehner is going to have a rocky ride in the months to come because conservatives have had it with his leadership.I mean, on the one hand, if you have a chance to take out a Republican Speaker, why wouldn’t you do that? On the other hand, if the obvious alternative is a Tea Party Speaker, now you’ve got to worry not only about your own political situation but frankly about the institution. I think that would give very serious pause to the Democrats.
