Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, who according to several of CPAC insiders, negotiated out of giving a speech at this year’s conference, instead agreed to take part in the Q & A portion of the program with Sean Hannity
Hannity all but gave Bush a pass during the Q & A by not asking him specific questions about his support for amnesty for illegal aliens, as well as his unwavering support for Common Core education standards.Bush did sound very confident and presidential with his responses to Hannity’s questions, and receive loud applause from attendees after every single one of his responses.
But wait, there is a catch to the show of support he received.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Bush’s Right to Rise PAC took a page out of Ron Paul’s playbook by busing in scores of supporters from K street, and other places around Washington, D.C.
One of the emails that went out this morning was from Fritz Brogan, a former advance man for then-President George W. Bush who (per the Washington Post) co-hosted a fundraiser for Jeb’s Right to Rise PAC earlier this month. A Bush insider confirmed to Slate that Bush’s Right to Rise PAC is helping organize the transportation.
Brogan wrote that there were still available seats on buses leaving from K Street and Georgetown at noon on Friday to get to the event in time for Bush’s talk.
“We strongly recommend arriving as early as possible to get a seat,” wrote Brogan in an email sent to undisclosed recipients. “Our ‘Early Rise’ team will be there at 7:30am onward helping reserve seats- if you want to join the early team, let me know.”
I was kneeling down with other photographers and journalists along the stage and couldn’t help but notice scores of “JEB!” lapel-wearing people peppered around the stage, as well as a large group of them standing directly in front of the stage.
These Jeb supporters that took it upon themselves to stand the entire time Bush spoke, did not care that they were obstructing the view of everyone sitting behind them.
Their job was to drown out an anti-Bush outbursts, boos, or jeers.
I was speechless.
