Harteau went on to say:
Searches are underway to find the shooter but so far they do not have anyone in custody. This is just a reminder to all that every one of our officers face such danger simply because they choose to wear a uniform. . . They deserve our support and gratitude.
Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges is calling the shooting a “cowardly act.” She also said:
We are sparing no effort to apprehend and bring to justice whoever is responsible for it.
In the meantime police have closed off the area of the shooting and they are asking people in the area of 24th and Fremont to stay in their homes. Police are also investigating the motive behind the original burglary call.
