After a brief visit back to the House the Keystone XL pipeline bill is expected to arrive on President Obama’s desk sometime this week. In the meantime Republicans are scrambling to secure the votes they would need to override Obama’s threatened veto.
If he veto’s the pipeline bill it would be the third of his presidency and it is expected to come with a lot of criticism including some from Democrats and unions who want the pipeline to be constructed.Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) has said the following about the bill:
This is the first piece of legislation on his desk . . . and he will have to choose between hard working Americans and taxpayers or environmental extremists.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
The president in turn has made it very clear he intends on vetoing the bill. In January alone he has made eight veto threats; the most ever in the start of a new Congress. Apparently the president did not get the message in November when the voters told him they are tired of his failed policies and filled the hill with Republicans.
Republicans on the other hand are effectively painting Obama as the President of “no” which will only further help them in elections to come.
