The Governor of New Jersey has been getting a lot of heat recently because he is an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. As a potential presidential contender his latest hug with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has went viral. Christie has attended three games this season alone and every time he is seen at a game Twitter and Facebook blow up with comments about it.
One concern I can sympathize with is New Jerseyans wondering if Governor Christie was enjoying the festivities on their dime? Well the verdict is in! Fox4News Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas has confirmed Jones paid for his private jet and tickets to yesterdays game.The real question is: if Christie decides to run for president are the voters really going to care he supports the Cowboys and not the Jets, Giants or Eagles? To get the answer to that question I reached out to Kelly Ann Hart. She is the President of the New Jersey political consulting firm, K-Hart Consulting, and this is what she had to say:
This is about a football team choice – it has nothing to do with his politics of policy. I think this is silly to make such a big deal about Governor Christie being a Cowboy fan. I can’t help but have respect for someone who is so passionate about something that they will take the punches for it. I am born and raised a “Jersey girl” who is a proud Philadelphia Eagles Fan. If I was given a chance to sit with Jeffrey Lurie during a game . . . oh, you can bet I’d be there and still be a Republican. I guess it’s a good thing the primary is off-season!

Ms. Hart makes a good point! Personally I find it ironic a lot of the same people who are criticizing the Governor for being a Cowboy fan also argue they want their elected officials to be real. I can tell you from experience, a lot of politicians are not real and quite frankly I admire the guy. Why lie and pretend to like a team you don’t? It does not make any sense.
