One of the fugatives that is currently on the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorist List, is currently being afforded “safe haven” by the Castro regime in Cuba.
The convicted cop-killer and resident of Castro’s Cuba, Joanne Chesimard (aka Assata Shakur), who escaped from prison after being found guilty of killing New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster in 1973, could soon enjoy more freedoms and subsidies courtesy of the U.S. government. With Obama’s call to “normalize” relations with the communist Cuban regime, trade and more U.S. dollars, or remittances, will surely flow into that country, and could spark an economic boost to that economy, which would essentially allow Chesimard to benefit from any economic uptick.
But New Jersey’s In-your-face, “fugettaboutit” governor, Chris Christie, is not backing down from seeing this cop-killer be brought to Justice.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Christie penned a letter to President Obama asking him to demand that the Castro regime hand over the cop-killer, before any normalization between the two countries begin.
Christie may be running for President in 2016, and this move could help come across as being hawkish on foreign policy.“Cuba’s provision of safe harbor to Chesimard by providing political asylum to a convicted cop killer … is an affront to every resident of our state, our country, and in particular, the men and women of the New Jersey State Police,” Christie wrote. “I urge you to demand the immediate return of Chesimard before any further consideration of restoration of diplomatic relations with the Cuban government.”-Gov. Chris Christie
