The SHARK TANK has just learned that Texas Senator Ted Cruz confirmed, and will be traveling to Jacksonville, Florida, to give the keynote address at the Republican Party of Duval County’s 2015 Lincoln Day dinner in Jacksonville, Florida.
The event will be held on February 20th, and could be perceived by many politicos as being an indirect challenge to Florida Senator Marco Rubio’s fragile base of support in the Republican stronghold of Northeast Florida.Republicans in northeast corner of the state gave Rubio his initial boost of support during his historic 2010 Senate race against then Republican Governor Charlie Crist, and considered my many to have played a big role in pushing Rubio over the finish line.
Both men are considering a presidential run in 2016, and for any prospective presidential candidate to have a chance of winning the state, especially in a contentious Republican primary race, he or she needs to shore up the conservative vote in northeast Florida.

Historically, the winner of the Jacksonville-area Republican electorate has won the state.
This will be Cruz’s sixth visit to the state in the past twelve months.
