With about a month to go before south Floridians cast their votes for who they feel will best represent them in congressional district 26, Republican congressional nominee Carlos Curbelo- who is challenging Democrat Congressman Joe Garcia-is already talking about what he would do if elected to the U.S. Congress, and what committee assignments he would like to hold.
Curbelo says that he would push for tax, entitlement, and education reforms, as well as hope that he gets tapped to sit on the Ways and Means, Transportation, and Education committees in the U.S. House of Representatives. It will be very difficult (fat chance) for Curbelo to be picked to sit on the Ways and Means, but nothing is impossible and out-of-reach in Washington, D.C., even for a prospective freshman congressman.
Because of his work as a commissioner on the Miami-Dade School Board, Curbelo wants to bring much-needed reform to the higher education system, which has received billions of taxpayer dollars, and is comprised of massive bureaucracies that have “not been transparent with students” or been held accountable.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Curbelo, who wants the collegiate system modeled after the K-12 education, supports across-the-board national education standards, or Common Core, as many Americans know it as.
Asked where he stood on the topic of extending the congressional work week, Curbelo said that it was up to “each member comes up with their own work week,” adding that it is important for elected officials to be able to meet with constituents and small business within the congressional district.
I really think that this gimmick of talking about the congressional work week, we need to move past that and really look at each individual member of Congress and see what they are doing-Carlos Curbelo
