President Obama’s long-anticipated ‘War on Terror’ officially began Monday night as U.S. and Arab nation warplanes bombed ISL targets within Syria.
U.S. warplanes also struck at the terrorist group, the Khorasan group, who U.S. Central Command (Centcom) has said is involved in “imminent attack plotting against the United Stats and western interests.”A total of 5 Arab countries- UAE, Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar- have taken part in military operations in Syria, which has so far lit up 25 military targets.
Interestingly enough, and not surprising, the Europeans are staying out of the fight, including France, who has not contributed warplanes in the coalition’s first wave of bombing sortie in Syria, even though it has dropped bombs on ISL targets in Iraq.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Why aren’t Europeans jumping into the bombing mix?
The reason could be that any engagement, limited or not, against Islamists could trigger backlash and possible terror attacks back home.
Both France and England have dense Arab populations, and over the years have seen violent protests against western aggression in those predominantly Muslim neighborhoods and communities. In addition to launching warplanes from the USS Bush and those from the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Navy has also fired Tomahawk missiles from two of their warships in the region, and is also employing those crafty little Predator drones to take out ISL targets.
Americans will surely be asking themselves this question: how long will these Arab nations hold the line?
