At this late stage in the race, Democrat gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist is touting a recent PPP poll that has him tied with Florida Governor Rick Scott.
Keep in mind that another poll conducted by the Tampa Bay Times has Scott up by 5 points over Crist.Friend —
Yesterday another poll came out that had us up by two points. A few days before, a poll showed we were down by two points.

We withstood $25 million in negative ads against us over the summer.
Between you and me, honestly, it’s amazing we made it out of that hailstorm intact. Now we’re going on offense. Floridians are counting on us to win.
God bless you,

Here is what was posted in the Miami Herald:
PPP’s newest Florida poll continues to find a tight race for Governor, with Charlie Crist holding a slight advantage over Rick Scott. Crist is at 42% to 39% for Scott, and 8% for Libertarian Adrian Wyllie. This election is shaping up as a choice between two candidates voters have decided they don’t care for. Only 40% of voters approve of the job Scott is doing to 49% who disapprove. But they don’t like Crist either- 40% of voters rate him favorably with 46% holding a negative opinion. The dissatisfaction with both major candidates probably helps to explain Wyllie’s 8% standing but since he is drawing pretty equally from both Scott and Crist he’s not having a major effect on the race in the way some Libertarians are in other states. When you take him out of the equation Crist’s lead remains 3 points at 44/41.
Crist is right. It is amazing to see that he survived the Rick Scott $25 million summer “hailstorm intact,” but now that the campaign is in the homestretch, can Crist convince enough Democrat voters that he is not the same “Chain gang Charlie” of before, or convince Independents and Republicans that he doesn’t completely embrace President Obama’s liberal ideology?
Whether or not Crist is able to pursuade these voters to vote for him over Rick Scott, will probably be inconsequential. Crist seems to have hired the entire Obama re-election team to help him defeat Scott, and I suspect that they will implement the same under-the-radar campaign targeting minority and low information voters, that won Obama a second term in office.
