In 1993, three of the world’s leaders stood on the White House lawn and declared, “The time for peace has come”. Those three leaders, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, Palestinian PLO Terrorist Chairman Yasser Arafat, and US President Bill Clinton joined together for the historic signing of the Oslo Peace Accords. The Oslo Peace Accords were aimed at building mutual trust, cooperation, and dialogue between the Israelis and Palestinians. In meeting the demands of the Palestinians, the Israelis were even willing to trade land for peace. The agreement was hailed as an “agreement that will usher in an age of peace, coexistence, and equal rights” by Arafat.
Among the stipulations agreed to upon by both parties, the Palestinians committed to educate their children towards peace and coexistence with the Israelis – two nations side by side, and the Israelis agreed to doing so as well.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
But not everyone agreed, Israel continued to endure bombings and terrorist attacks even after the peace agreement, and Arafat despite playing as a partner for peace, continued to sponsor and endorse acts of terrorism. The Israelis turned against this agreement, and many became upset with Rabin.
In November 1995, Rabin attended a rally and implored the country to continue on the path to peace. Rabin was joined on stage by Israeli singer, Miri Aloni, who together joined Rabin and sang “The Song for Peace”. Rabin took the words to the song, put it in his pocket, and left for his car. As he approached his car, an Israeli fanatic shot and killed him for giving land to the Arabs.
After arriving at the hospital, in his coat pocket they found the blood soaked lyrics to “The Song for Peace”, an sad symbol of all that was to come of the Oslo accords and all that was to occur in Israel’s path.
Now, under a barrage of missile fire and war – two very different educational approaches are happening mere yards away from each other. The PLO and Hamas have turned their child television and schools into terrorist training camps, indoctrinating their children towards jihad and martyrdom.
But, despite all that the Israeli’s endured – they still sing that same “Song for Peace”. The same singer who sang with Rabin on that fateful night now travels to bomb shelters along the Gaza border to sing with children, aiming them towards peace.
The song’s lyrics, are symbolic of the Israeli spirit, one of determination for peace and yearning for peace. “Don’t say the day will come, bring on that day, because it is not a dream – and in all the city squares cheer only for peace!” Despite the bombings, sniper attacks, murders, and savage killings – the Israelis have not lost hope.
Aloni explains, “this song has become our second national anthem. This song was as a song for the sake of peace, and for the peace, one that comes from the mountain of peace. The song was written by a soldier who lost his leg fighting for Israel. It is possible to say, that he wrote the song with the blood of his body – a song for peace. These children, who are living literally underneath a never ending war, these are the children we are raising with The Song for Peace. This compared to how they poison and indoctrinate the children on the other side of the border.”
While one side sings for peace, the other side prepares and teaches for terror, murder, and war. There is perhaps no better example of the situation on the ground than this, and moreover, it is a stark reminder of why the people of Gaza and the Palestinian people cannot be trusted to have their own independent country.
As Former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir once said, “We can forgive the Arabs for killing our children, but we cannot forgive the Arabs for making us kill theirs. Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us”
