Florida Gov. Rick Scott has given his nod of approval to those new redrawn maps, which Circuit Judge Terry Lewis ordered the GOP-led legislature to draw up after he found that Republican legislators tainted the redistricting process in 2012.
Lewis will now hold a hearing next week to look over the new “valid” maps.“The Legislature continues to make a mockery of the process, destroying public trust and confidence in our democracy,” … Until the Legislature can restore that trust, Floridians must continue to look to the courts to hold lawmakers accountable.”-AP
Because the new maps alter seven congressional districts, it is not clear if the August 26 primary date and November 4 general election dates will be pushed back.

The two districts flagged by Lewis are a sprawling district that stretches from Jacksonville to Orlando and is held by U.S. Rep. Corinne Brown, a Democrat, and a central Florida district held by U.S. Rep. Dan Webster, a Republican.
The dates will most likely have to be pushed back considering the fact that Absentee ballots have already been cast, and if these new maps stick, many of those votes will not count in the districts in which they were cast.
