The attendees of the recent forum on Fort Lauderdale Beach between the three men running for Broward County Commission district 4, saw a few elbows thrown and should expect more of these sharp attacks in the months leading up to the November election.
Current sitting County Commissioner Chip LaMarca, former Commissioner Ken Keechl, and Ben Lap, made their cases, as to why Broward County voters should vote for them in this upcoming mid-term elections.Keechl, who lost to LaMarca in 2010, and ran again in 2012 in a different Commission district and also lost, says he is running “because he loves the job.”
Lap say he is the only non-politician in the race, and LaMarca called himself a servant, and not a politician.

While Keechl and LaMarca exchanged sharp elbows, it was interesting to see and confirm the close tie and relationship that obscure blogger and LaMarca-hater Tom Lauder has with Keechl’s campaign staff.
Lauder, a supposed Republican, has been hounding LaMarca for just about everything he has done while on the Commission, and many have suspected that he is formed an alliance with Team Keechl.
Before the forum, Lauder was seen embracing Michael Ahearn’s wife Megan and chumming it up with her.During the event, Mrs, Ahearn acknowledge Lauder at the back of the room, raising more questions as to why Lauder has such a close relationship with liberal Democrat operative Ahern and his wife, who just so happen to also be tied to Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler, and are running Keechl’s campaign.
Now, Lauder and the Ahearn’s can be friendly towards one another-there is no crime in that- but it is very curious that Lauder never speaks ill of Keechl, yet makes it a point to jab LaMarca on just about anything.
On another note, Lauder’s partner, Chris Leggatt, has also seen privately meeting with Ken Keechl. Leggatt is also a registered Republican, and along with Lauder, are members of the Broward County Republican Executive Committee.
Lauder and Leggatt are also inextricably tied to embattled former BREC Chairman Richard DeNapoli, who is running for the state House of Representatives in Sarasota County, Florida. Lauder has served on the host committee for several of  DeNapoli-led fundraising events in Broward County.
More on this to come. Stay tuned…
