It must be good to be a Democrat running for Governor in South Carolina — who happens to also be a trial lawyer.
State Sen. Vincent Sheheen, the Democratic nominee for governor, saw his earnings rise nearly 50 percent in 2013 over what he reported a year earlier, according to income-tax returns he released Monday. The Camden attorney and father of three earned $333,042 in 2013, which rose by $108,122 because of fluctuations in his law practice, a state Democratic Party spokeswoman said.
To translate, “fluctuations in his law practice” is political speak in Columbia for “new clients thanks to Sheehan’s political power.”
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Sheehan has been a Democrat in the State House and Senate for close to 15 years. But it was only when he made his intentions known to run for Governor when his law practice income spiked by 50 percent. That’s convenient.
The median income for a South Carolina household is a measly $44,623 to Sen. Sheehan’s $333,042 haul last year. In fact, just his one-year income increase from 2012 to 2013 is more than double the typical SC household’s entire yearly income. Wow.
Governor Nikki Haley ran and won her first term by promising to break up the “good old boy” network in South Carolina. It looks like she’ll have to do it again this year.
