Charlie Crist’s Miami office opening could have gone a little smoother, if not for the antics of a couple dozen protesters, who shouted down Crist and staffers for his support of lifting the U.S. embargo to Cuba.
Needless to say, the event was pretty well put together by his St. Petersburg, Florida staff, but what may haunt Crist, is not the way he was taken off message by the protesters, but what he said during he remarks during his address to his supporters. In the video below, Crist inexplicably questions the level of caring that Americans have towards the people of Cuba.
The people in Cuba are suffering. It’s a policy that has not worked. If you really care about people on the island, you need to get rid of the embargo.”-Charlie Crist
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
This will not sit will with Cuban exiles, regardless of their political affiliations.
Crist went on to mock Florida Governor Rick Scott for being “out of touch” with voters because he “flies around in his private jet.”
Scott does fly around in his own private jet, which he pays for himself. Scotts travels are in stark contrast to Crist, who flew around the state as governor on a taxpayer funded private jets(s).And then Crist ended his speech with this:
What kind of a leader is that? Unethical, that’s what that is. We deserve to have someone who has some integrity, who has ethics, who are children and grandchildren can be proud of. That’s who we deserve to have in the Governor’s mansion.-Charlie Crist
Crist speaks of ethics, but does anyone know where his former friend and confidant Jim Greer is?
Republicans are sure to pounce on this.
