Marital issues aside (recently accused wife of Bigamy), Congressman Alan Grayson’s life just got a bit more complicated.
Nick Ruiz, a philosophy and humanities professor at the University of Central Florida has paid the necessary qualifying fee of $10,440 to qualified to run for Congress against Grayson in the Democrat primary election set for August 26.This race will be interesting, considering the make-up of the district, which has a high concentration of Hispanics. Both Ruiz and Grayson are considered leftists, and will surely be outdueling each other, as to who is the most liberal between them.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Ruiz recently said the following of Grayson’s debate-dodging:
Ruiz added:“Rep. Grayson may find such a ruse amusing, but the people of the district find it inconsiderate. Everyone expects and deserves communicative reciprocity from an elected representative. Unsurprisingly, many expect he will hunker down behind a large pile of money, essentially hiding from the Democratic Primary challenge I bring from the people of FL-9. Alas, there will be no hiding on primary election day, August 26, 2014.”
“Rep. Grayson’s attitude displays the sort of megalomania we’ve all come to despise from too many of the 535 members of this Congress; and especially Alan Grayson himself, the 21st richest member of Congress. Didn’t he express his concerns when Dan Webster refused a debate conversation with him in the 2010 election? The voters have a right to such a debate forum in every election, though Rep. Grayson here denies them that right. His colleagues, and the nation find his conduct to be a habitual disappointment, and I would have to agree.”
Mr. Ruiz is the second candidate in the 2014 election cycle to call on Grayson to a debate. Jorge Bonilla, the Republican Navy veteran and former conservative blogger, who has also qualified to be on the Republican primary ballot, has also proposed several debates.
According to the Bonilla campaign, Grayson’s team has acknowledge the request, and stated that he would gladly debate Bonilla, but only after he won his primary race.
Now Grayson is on the clock to answer Ruiz’s request for a debate.
Like Grayson, Ruiz is pro-choice, pro-marriage equality, supports amnesty for illegal immigrants, and supports Obamacare.Ruiz says that Obamacare is a “baby step” to true healthcare reform, raising the question of whether he supports single-payer healthcare system, just as Grayson does.
Grayson supports raising the minimum wage, and so does Ruiz, but Professor Ruiz believes the minimum wage needs to be doubled. Yes, doubled.
Knowing how well Alan Grayson manages himself under pressure and attacks from his opponents, this primary race will be get pretty lively.
Let the games begin.
