Florida Governor Rick Scott, Senator Marco Rubio, and Lt. Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera, headlined last week rally in Miami, Florida, in support of the Venezuelans being persecuted by that country’s socialist Dictator Nicolas Maduro.
Amid chants of “Viva Rubio” and “Rubio para Presidente,” the crowd inside the El Arepazo II restaurant near Rubio’s Senate office, Rubio reiterated what he dramatically stated days earlier on the Senate floor, where he gave an emotional and fiery scolding of Senator Harkin for praising Venezuela, and smacking down Maduro’s thug tactics against protestors. What’s happening in Venezuela is the systematic violation of liberty and human rights by a government, following a playbook that they learned from Havana, and dictators before them. The are using the armed forces and the police departments of the government, not to protect the people, but to kill them.-Sen. Marco Rubio
Rubio then backed up Governor Rick Scott’s call to Obama, demanding that he “freeze the assets and revoke the travel visas” of Maduro and those in his government, who have taken part in the violence.

Later Rubio told reporters that he supported asylum for those persecuted Venezuelans.Watch video here.
After all three men spoke, Rubio and Lopez-Cantera made remarks in both Spanish and English, the Venezuelans who packed the El Arepazo II restaurant began to chant Venezuela’s national anthem. Great stuff!
