Just days after saying that the Cuban embargo needed to be lifted, former Florida Governor Charlie Crist (D) stated at his book signing in Fort Myers, Florida, that the embargo itself was causing the people of Cuba to suffer.
It’s been 50 years, and it hasn’t worked. And because that amount of time, you want to see if policies can work, and can come to fruition. It’s apparent to me, after 52 years, I think it is now, that this one has not. And I don’t want the people of Cuba to suffer anymore, and I think if we enter in trade with Cuba, it will help Florida and America, and the people of Cuba. –Charlie Crist
Crist then equated the current U.S. policy towards Cuba to “insanity.”
The dictatorship there is awful and its been oppressive, but this embargo that has been in place to try to get rid of it hasn’t worked. You know, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result-its time to try something new.”-Charlie Crist
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Not quite sure if Crist meant to use another word besides “insanity” to define the Cuban embargo.
Here is the Merriam-Webster dictionary’s definition of the word insanity:
