Republican Congressman Trey Radel, who has returned to Washington after a brief stint in a drug rehabilitation program, after being busted for cocaine possession, has now drawn the his first primary challenger.
Paige Kreegel, who lost to Radel in the 2012 Republican Primary, and is backed by a local Super PAC with $1 million to spend on him, has jumped into the primary race.Kreegel stated that “Southwest Florida should expect a congressman who can lead, a congressman without distractions, a congressman they can trust.”
While Radel has said that he would not step down, he has not address the question, as to whether or not he will seek re-election in 2014.

Former Congressman Connie Mack, whose old seat Radel now holds, is said to be also be considering giving Radel a primary challenge.
Because the his seat is considered to be “safe” for Republicans, and because the call has come out for him to move on, a slew of names are being thrown around as possible Republican primary challengers to Radel. State Senator Lizbeth Benequisto is considered to be at the top of the list of possible candidates, as are several of Radel’s 2012 GOP primary opponents, including Paige Kreegel.-Shark Tank
