Former Republican-turned-Independent-turned Democrat Charlie Crist, interviewed with MSNBC’s Ed Schultz this week and stated that he would raise taxes, if he was elected Governor of Florida in 2014.
Here is the exchange between Ed Schultz and the one-time “I am pro-life, I’m pro-gun, I’m pro-family and I’m anti-tax” Charlie Crist.
Schultz: What do you think about Florida’s finances, and what do you expect out of the wealthiest residents?
Crist: I think we both have to expect more of each other. I don’t like to raise taxes. I don’t think that anyone really enjoys the idea of doing that, I did it as Governor.Schultz: Would you do it again?
Crist: If necessary, I would.

“He never met a tax increase he liked. … The Charlie Crist I knew idolized Ronald Reagan and embraced Reagan’s view of limited government. He was pro-life, pro-gun and vehemently anti-tax. He believed big government was the enemy of success, and that when government taxed it took ‘your money.’“-Former Senator George LeMieux, former Crist Chief of Staff
Hmmm? The Republican Party of Florida, who has finally grown a pair this year, as opposed to past years, offered this statement in regards to Crist’s admission that he would raise taxes.
“With today’s admission from Charlie Crist that he would raise taxes again if he’s elected Governor, Floridians know without a doubt that we can’t afford to go back to a tax-raising, debt-increasing, Obamacare-embracing opportunist like Charlie.”-Susan Hepworth, RPOF Press Secretary
