You knew it was only a matter of time before Charlie Crist would seek the support of his past GOP donors.Crist recently had a meeting with top Republican donor Gary Kompothecra from Siesta Key, who also supported Crist when he became an Independent during his failed 2010 Senate race.
Crist said he thinks some of his past allies, such as Kompothecras, will remain with him because they trust him. He said the relationships extend over many years.

Sarasota, Broward and Pinellas Counties, have long been fertile donor-friendly grounds for Crist, even after he left the GOP, but one thing is to run against Rick Scott as an Independent, and another is to run against him as a Democrat.
While Crist may not get his past Republican friends to openly support him, many of those who still keep him in high regards, and may have supported him as an Independent, including State Representative Dane Eagle, State Senator Jack Latvala, and current State House candidate Richard DeNapoli, who openly told several past chairmen of the Republican Party of Broward that Crist would still beat Marco Rubio as an Independent, may just offer him a quite pad on the back of support
Remember, these guys are all politicans who are looking to get re-elected, and know that, ‘if’ Crist were to defeat Scott next year, they would have to deal with him for at least 4 years, but that’s if they win their respective races.
Here is Crist doubling down on his support for the High Speed rail program Rick Scott squashed in 2011, because of possible “cost overruns and maintance cost issues.
“This fellow ran as wanting to be the jobs governor. One of the first acts he does — which was completely nonsensical to me — he says we are not going to take the high speed rail,” Crist said. “That would have brought tens of thousands of jobs. Are you kidding me? How do you not do that if you really want to produce jobs.”
