It seems as if I am one of the lucky few in Florida, who  has been saved from the Obamacare/ Blue Cross & Blue Shield insurance cutting block, for now. Florida Blue (aka BCBSFL) announced that they would be cutting 300,000 insurance plans in Florida because they did not conform with the new healthcare law, but now it seems as if they are giving a select few a bit of a break.

I just received a letter from the insurance agent that sold me my Florida Blue policy, telling me that they “we’re happy” to let me know that  I could keep my current plan until Summer of 2014, while I “review the new plans now available.”

Oh yeah, the letter also informs me that I may be eligible for “a premium tax credit (subsidy) from the government,” and that I could find out how much of a subsidy I could qualify for, by visiting Blue Florida’s “online estimator” at floridabluehealthcarereform.com.

I thought Obamacare was so wonderful that all Americans had to be enrolled in it by the first of 2014? This decision to let me and other Florida Blue policy holders stick with our existing insurance plan, probably came from the top, as President Obama has be excoriated for lying to Americans by telling them that they could keep their existing plans if they were happy with them.

What crap?! They are offer me another 8 months of my existing plan, before they drop the Obamacare hammer on my head.
